New Year’s Eve in Canada’s Capital

3, 2, 1… Happy New Year! Okay, we’re not quite there yet, but here at Panoramic Properties we’re getting excited for New Year’s Eve celebrations. Ottawa puts on a good party for New Year’s Eve and we’ve compiled a list of great suggestions to help you ring in 2013.

Try a Club

Barrymore’s Music Hall hosts their annual New Year’s Eve party featuring a catered meal, swanky décor and a NYE count down. This is a great spot for a group of friends with varied taste in music as tunes from the 60s through today are featured. Bottle service is $250 for two bottles of premium vodka. Tickets for the night are available for $25.

For a Big Apple themed New Year’s celebration, The Drink Club is hosting a night with group VIP packages available that include bottle service and priority line access. For early bird admission, tickets are available for $18. For more Ottawa club listings visit: Hype1.

Up for a Laugh

To start 2013 off with a laugh, head to the Harold Shenkman Arts Centre for a night of comedy featuring Canadian comedians including Gilson Lubin, Ron Josol and Kate Davis. The party continues after the show at local pub Darcy McGee’s.

Family-Friendly Celebrations

Visit a free street party in Ottawa and bring the whole family. The Sparks Street pedestrian mall kicks off their celebrations at 8 p.m. with food, drinks and a live DJ. For the full Times Square Experience in Ottawa check out the details on the Facebook page.

Ottawa City Hall partners with the Scottish Society of Ottawa for a Scottish-style party to ring in 2013. This is a family-friendly party that celebrates the Scottish New Year at 7:00 p.m. (for the kids) and again at midnight. The night comes complete with Highland dancing, Celtic music and bagpipes.

Hosting at Home

Invite a few friends over, provide hors d’oeuvres and bubbly and ask your friends to bring a few dishes to supplement. Queue up a great New Year’s playlist from Songza or Grooveshark and voila, insta-party! This is a great way to have a low-key night in so you can avoid battling the crowds. Make sure to throw on TV coverage of the Times Square Ball Drop to sync up your countdown.
