After a long winter, we’re ready for spring. Ottawa has a lot to offer and it’s a great place to explore at this time of year. Here are a few tips from Panoramic Properties on how to spend a perfect spring day in Canada’s capital city.
Major Hill Park
Grab a coffee at Origin Trade cafe and head out for a walk through Major Hill Park. This is one of the best places to be if you’re looking for amazing views of the city. Take in the view of Parliament Hill and the Rideau River and simply enjoy nature. You can also plan a picnic in the park!
Canadian Museum of History
If it’s a rainy day, check out the Canadian Museum of History. You can explore Canada’s rich history and check out the world’s largest indoor collection of totem poles! It’s also a great opportunity to learn more about the country’s native First Peoples.
Bike Along the Rideau River
One of the best ways to enjoy Ottawa is to go for a bike ride along the Rideau Canal pathway — a UNESCO World Heritage site. You can cycle on both sides of the canal — even though there are no marked bike paths, you can share them with pedestrians. If you don’t have a bike, you can get one temporarily at RentABike.
Go For Dinner
There are a ton of great restaurants to choose from in Ottawa. Check out Soif Bar à Vin, which is a wine bar that offers a seasonal menu with small, shareable plates. Another great option is Supply and Demand, a cozy spot with a great atmosphere serving savoury homemade pasta, raw bar dishes and vegetable-focused small plates using sustainable ingredients.
