Check out the 3rd annual Songs of Summer Music Festival

The 3rd annual Songs of Summer Music Festival returns to Sudbury this summer at Theatre Cambrian (40 Eyre Street), just a 5 minute drive fromTiffany Place Apartments (1 & 44 Humber Court, Sudbury). The festival runs from Friday, August 19th to Sunday, August 21st, and features over 20 local bands, food, craft vendors and fun for the whole family. Friday Night

 

Lee Aaron opens the festival on Friday night. Her new album “Fire and Gasoline” is her first rock album in 20 years. Aaron released 6 albums during the 80’s and 90’s including the celebrated “Metal Queen”. She has won 3 Toronto Music Awards for Best Female Vocalist, earned 10 Juno nominations and toured the world extensively. You can see her live, less than a 20 minutes by public transportation from Commodore Apartments(1140 Ramsey View Court, Sudbury).

 

Saturday Night

 

On Saturday night, Canadian pop star Shawn Desman takes the stage. Desman’s breakthrough album came out in 2002, and he’s been creating hit music ever since. With gold and platinum hits like “Shook”, “Shiver” and “Electric”, this electrifying performer is sure to shake up the Songs of Summer Music Festival. The festival is located less than a 10 minute drive from Southend Apartments (1310 Nesbitt Drive).

 

Sunday Night

 

Glass Tiger frontman, Alan Frew plays the Theatre Cambrian stage (less than a 10 minute drive from Lakeshore Manor, 1720 Paris Street) on Sunday night in support of his latest solo album, 80290 Rewind (2015). The 5 time Juno Award winner and Grammy nominee will be performing a set comprised of his interpretations of some of the biggest tunes of the 80’s. Songs such as Tears For Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” and Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time”, not to mention his own Glass Tiger hits, and more.

The opening acts for the headline shows will be performed by local bands who competed during the Ulitmate Songs of Summer contest. Tickets for headline shows are $40 and day passes to the grounds are $5.
