Enjoy Fall in Ottawa

posted on October 05, 2012

Autumn in Ottawa is an experience not to be missed. Here are some tips for residents of Panoramic Properties' Baseline Court to help you discover everything that the city offers in the fall.

Fall Events

If you didn’t make it to the first weekend of the O-Town Hoedown, be sure to head to the Rainbow Bistro the weekend of October 5-6. The Hoedown is a musical celebration of all things country music. For $10 a night you can see feature bands playing everything from bluegrass to folk rock, including rockabilly and cowpunk.

Ottawa Fashion Week showcases Canadian designers' 2013 spring and summer collections. This fall, 22 designer brands will be featured at OFW S/S ’13. Some of our favourites include: Carissa McCaig, Geneviève Couture, Jana Hanzel and Emila Fashion Design Studio. Fashion Week begins October 11th and runs until Sunday, October 14.

Calling all aspiring writers! Check out the Writers Festival taking place from October 24 to October 30. Feature events include: the Ottawa Premiere of Midnight’s Children, appearances by Deepa Mehta, Lloyd Robertson, Jian Ghomeshi and Peter Robinson. This festival focuses on seminars, workshops, and special events for writers.

Tickets for the Ottawa Wine and Food Festival go on sale October 5th. Be sure to get your hands on your pass for this popular event taking place from November 7-11, 2012.

Get Outside

Fall is also the season for apple picking. Enjoy fresh Ottawa region apples and use them to make pies, preserves, or just enjoy them as-is. Head to an orchard and enjoy an afternoon in the country. About an hour outside the city, Mountain Orchards features a Family Fun Zone, a corn maze and wagon rides. Another option - Cannamore Orchard, home of the Spooky Wagon Ride - features a country market, family activity area and museum.

Autumn is the best time to visit Ottawa's fabulous parks. View nature in her fall finery inGatineau Park, the Capital's Conservation Park. It has many acres of woodland surrounding a lake, unique plants and wildlife, and many heritage sites.
