Last Minute Shopping Tricks

We’re excited to feature the community of Thorold on our blog for the first time! For those who don’t know, Thorold is a great small town that is a short trip from both St. Catharines and Niagara Falls. Panoramic Properties’ recently renovated Thorold apartments (40 Front Street North) are the perfect place to call home if you’re looking for a balance of small-town living with the amenities of city life nearby.

If you’re anything like us, then you still have some holiday shopping left – fret not about facing the crowds and the last-minute crush of shopping because today we’re focusing on some last minute shopping tricks and ways to make the best of holiday sales in the Thorold and St. Catharines area.

Shop Local

The town of Thorold has a great community of local businesses that provide some unique options for shopping and gift giving.   Consider a gift certificate for Beginner Yoga classes at the Yoga Centre of Niagara (24 Front Street South). We think it’s a perfect gift for those on your Christmas List in need of stress relief or interested in exploring a new exercise. If you’re attending any holiday parties before or even after Christmas, consider a beautiful Christmas vase or a gift basket from Fine Expressions (26 Albert St. E). For more ideas, What’s On Thorold has a comprehensive listing of all the retail stores in town that’s a great source of inspiration.

On a mission at the mall

Get online and browse the stores of nearby Pen Centre Mall (221 Glendale Ave.) and take a look at the sales and promotions. For great stocking stuffers or gifts for friends, HMV is hosting a Holiday sale until Christmas Eve with DVDs starting from $5. Alternatively, place an online order for a Pen Centre gift card and arrange for pickup from the customer service desk.

Host a Baking Party

Your stunningly renovated Thorold apartment suite is the perfect spot to bring together friends who are in the same last-minute boat as you. With a group working together, you can make a variety of baking and crafts for some holidays gifts. We love the red and green in theCranberry Pistacho Biscotti and it makes for an excellent Christmas cookie. For craft inspiration, check out the 12 days of holidays DIYs featured on Mr. Kate, including a homemade iPad cover she’s dubbed the iPlaid.

Make a plan

At this point; you can’t wander aimlessly around the stores. Compile a list and some basic ideas of all the people you have to shop for. Having this in mind helps streamline the process and gives purpose to your shopping. We hope our suggestions have helped inspire you to get out and get your last minute gifts purchased.
