Raise a glass to these Ottawa bars

Let’s raise a glass to Ottawa! When you’re looking for a fun night out in the city, you’ve got a lot of options. What kind of bar are you looking for? Do you want to dance, or just hang out with some friends in a relaxed atmosphere where you can actually hear each other speak? No matter what your mood, the Panoramic Properties blog team has some suggestions for the best bars in Ottawa to visit right now.

Babylon

If you’re looking for an elegant, upscale and refined establishment with modern decor and clean lines, Babylon is NOT what you are looking for. This is a dark, legendary, dive bar and it’s not trying to be anything else. It’s a great venue for live music or dance parties. They have specific theme nights from Retro to Electro to Punk, so make sure you check out what is happening the night you plan on going as the experience from day to day can change dramatically. Sunday night ‘Mod Night’ is always popular. Find them at 317 Bank Street, about a 10 to 15 minute cab ride from Baseline Court.

Barrymore’s

If you don’t like whatever theme night is happening at Babylon, check out Barrymore’s at 323 Bank Street. They’re neighbours! This nightclub and concert venue first opened in 1978 and is housed in the former Imperial Theatre. It was an important music venue in the ‘80s. It changed owners in 1991, when the now famous ‘theme nights’ were introduced. Sunday night 80’s night and Thursday night 90’s night being some of the most popular. It changed owner’s again in 2008, but the theme nights survived.

The Moonroom

The Moonroom is a quiet, intimate lounge and restaurant at 442 Preston Street — about a 10 minute cab from home at Baseline Court. This a great place to sit (if you can get a table) and enjoy some sensational small plates of tapas, delicious desserts, and cool craft cocktails. Try their twist on the Caesar, served with a pickled cherry. It’s like nothing else.

Bowman’s Bar and Grill

If you’re not looking for a late night party scene, just a quiet, casual spot to grab a drink, have some decent food and a conversation, Bowman’s Bar and Grill  (1170 Carling Ave) may be the place you’re looking for. They are only a few minutes away from Baseline Court.

The Panoramic Properties blog team hopes that these suggestions help make your night a memorable one. Remember to plan responsibly if you’ll be drinking. Don’t drink and drive.
