What to do in Ottawa this March Break

So it’s day two of March Break and you’re already out of ideas for activities to keep busy with your kids in Ottawa? Don’t worry; the Panoramic Properties team has you covered with lots of great options for family-friendly fun close to our apartments at Baseline Court (1795-1815 Baseline Road). Read on for our run-down of events for the rest of this week.

The Ottawa Public Library’s Carlingwood Branch is hosting a ton of great activities and camps that will appeal to any kid or teen. Even better, the library is quite close to the Baseline Court apartments for easy and quick access. On March 12 there’s a Teen book club that brings together a group to chat about books and share favourites among the group.  Kids over 13 can also volunteer over the break to share their tech-knowledge with older adults and seniors. Tech savvy teens will give tutorials on smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, e-mail and tablet technology. There are also different camp programs running daily for the rest of the week. If your kids who show in an interest in architecture or engineering, register them for the Block Party program on March 15. The activities center around building with Lego and the day camp is tailored for kids ages 6-10. For something especially unique, kids ages 7-12 can build, create and explore with 3-D sculpture on the afternoon of Wednesday March 13. For more info on all the March Break camps and workshops call: 613-725-2449 or visit the Library’s program listing.

The City of Ottawa is also offering a lot of activities for families during March Break. Pinecrest Recreation Centre is a quick trek from our Ottawa apartments: it’s a seven-minute drive by car or around 12 minutes by OCTranspo. Pinecrest also has a number of specialty camps featuring sports, arts and everything in between. The Pinecrest pool is also hosting 14 public and family swims for the rest of the week, so set aside some time and break out your bathing suits. For more details on courses and activities available at Pinecrest Recreation Centre check out this community app developed from the City’s OpenData. Be sure to check out the nearby public swimming and skating schedules.
