Your guide to Holiday light displays in Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is indeed a tourist town, but that doesn’t mean that hometown residents can’t also enjoy the city. The annual Ontario Power Generation Winter Festival of Lights converts the municipality into an exhibition of stunning colours with three million shimmering tree lights and more. The Panoramic Properties blog team has put together a guide to the holiday light displays for our Niagara Falls residents.

Dufferin Islands is located just eight minutes away from our Weinbrenner Place Apartments, (3401-3421 Weinbrenner Road) and is also referred to as The Great Canadian Outdoors. Here, guests will get a chance to view a fascinating illuminated display of national wildlife including moose and buffalo, wolves, rams, bears, beavers, whales, deer, and even dinosaurs. To view pictures of the display from previous years, click here.

The Winter Wonderland Displays feature stunning creations such as the world’s largest illuminated Canadian-American flag, tributes to the grape and wine industry, the historic 1812 battles and so much more.  Also on display here are winter activities such as ice hockey, skating and skiing. Decorative lanterns also hang throughout the display and illuminate the space. To learn more about what you can expect to see, click here.

For a display that reflects our religious diversity, head to the Religions of the World Displays south of Clifton Park, just three minutes away from our Robinson Street Apartments (5556 Robinson Street). The area showcases a collection of decorations that pay homage to Christian, Judaic and Islamic religious traditions. The Ontario Power Generation Winter Festival of Lights has partnered with religious and community organizations to bring brilliant exhibits like the Nativity Scene, the Pilgrimage to Mecca and a huge Menorah to the public. Note: there is no fee to view the displays but donations are appreciatively accepted by Festival Ambassadors.
